See What's Going On at SMS
Dear SMS Families,
I hope this email finds you refreshed and ready for the 2023-2024 school year. I look forward to welcoming you to another fantastic school year.
Our dedicated staff is geared up and excited to provide an array of engaging and challenging learning experiences for all students. The SMS teachers and staff’s mission is to provide support and guidance to their students in order for them to become successful lifelong learners.
Changes in Staff:
We thank our past staff members for their dedication and hard work here at Saint Michael School. They have been wonderful assets to our community during their time here and wish them well in their futures endeavors.
Father Chris and I have been diligently interviewing this summer to find the best candidates to fill these vacant positions. We are excited to announce that all positions have been filled.
We welcome our newest staff members to our school community: Mrs. Stacy Kooken (Pre-k 4 B Teacher), Yvette Sullivan (Pre-k 4B Aide), Mrs. Michelle Jasmin (Kindergarten Aide), Miss Emily Calos (Grade 2), Mrs. Angela Lutton (Grade 7/ Math & Science), Mr. Sean Kanode (Custodian), Ms. Cruz Via Y Rada (Pre-k 4A Aide), Miss Mikayla Sheehan (School Counselor) and Mrs. Allison Couture (School Nurse).
I am very happy to announce some internal changes that have taken place. Mrs. Christine Bada will now be our Pre-K 4A teacher and Miss Robin Dejadon will be teaching grade 3. I would also like to congratulate Miss Hayley Woodworth on her promotion as the new Pre-k 3 teacher.
Changes in Morning Drop-Off/ Afternoon Dismissal:
All students are asked to be dropped off at the school yard gate for 7:45 am. All children will then line up with their teachers and classmates for morning prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Parents are welcome to join us. We ask that you stand by the convent fence during this time. More information on this can be found in the handbook and another email will be sent out regarding changes.
Exciting Changes
This year we are excited to start an instrumental music program for grade 1-8. Students will be able to select an instrument and have weekly lessons every Wednesday. We will hold an assembly for all students to find out more about each instrument before they make their choice.
In other news, we are partnering with WPI to offer STEM classes as part of our after school program. This is an wonderful opportunity for students to get hands on experience with some of the best young minds in New England.
I want to thank all who attended the BBQ last night- it was a lot of fun and great to see the students playing on the playground. We are looking forward to next week and having the students back in the building.
